CAST 2025 Advancing Transplantation Through Collaboration & Regional Insight

19
Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation
The Congress

Imagine a global gathering where the future of organ transplantation is shaped not just by innovation, but by understanding the unique needs of diverse societies.

That vision defined CAST 2025 – The 19th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation, held from November 26–29, 2025, at Grand Hyatt Kuwait.

150+ Speakers
300+ Topics
07 Workshops
04 Congress Days
01
A Historic Milestone

Conducted under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, the congress marked a historic milestone — the first time this prestigious biannual event was hosted in Kuwait. Bringing together global expertise and regional leadership, CAST 2025 created a powerful platform for advancing transplantation medicine across Asia and beyond.

02

A Theme Rooted in Real-World Impact

The congress was built around the theme: “In search of ‘MODELS’ that fit our societies.”

In his welcome message, Congress President Dr. Mustafa Al-Mousawi emphasized the importance of addressing Asia’s unique challenges in organ donation and transplantation. The goal was not only to share global advancements, but to explore solutions that are practical, ethical, and adaptable to different healthcare systems.

This approach shaped a program that encouraged dialogue, debate, and collaboration — ensuring that discussions remained both innovative and grounded in real-world application.

03

A Landmark Moment for Kuwait

As highlighted by Asian Society of Transplantation President Dr. Maggie Ma, hosting CAST 2025 in Kuwait represented a significant milestone for the country and the region.

Kuwait’s leadership in transplantation was a key reason for its selection as host. With nearly five decades of experience, the country has played a pioneering role in the Gulf, including:

  • 1979 The first live donor kidney transplant
  • 2007 The first successful pancreas transplant
  • 2018 The launch of a liver transplant program

This strong foundation made Kuwait an ideal setting for a congress focused on shaping the future of transplantation across diverse societies.

04

Global Expertise, Unified Purpose

CAST 2025 brought together 150+ speakers and covered 300+ topics, reflecting a truly international exchange of knowledge.

Participants and experts represented countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, creating a diverse and dynamic learning environment. This wide representation reinforced the congress’s position as a leading international medical conference, where global perspectives meet regional priorities.

Supported by prominent organizations including the Ministry of Health, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Kuwait University, and multiple international transplant societies, the event demonstrated strong collaboration across institutions and disciplines.

05

A Comprehensive Scientific Experience

The congress featured a rich and multidisciplinary scientific program addressing all aspects of organ transplantation.

Sessions explored key areas such as kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplantation, alongside specialized topics including pediatric transplantation, transplant oncology, and long-term patient outcomes. Discussions also addressed critical themes like ethical organ donation, deceased donor programs, living donor transplantation, and advances in immunology and infection management.

Emerging technologies — including organ preservation techniques and machine perfusion — were also highlighted, reflecting the field’s rapid evolution.

Complementing the scientific sessions were 7 hands-on workshops, offering practical training and skill development opportunities for participants. This balance between theory and practice positioned the congress among impactful continuing medical education conference experiences.

06

A Multidisciplinary Community

CAST 2025 welcomed a broad range of healthcare professionals, including transplant surgeons, nephrologists, hepatologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, intensivists, anesthetists, and immunologists.

The congress also engaged transplant coordinators, nurses, allied health professionals, ethicists, and trainees — creating a truly multidisciplinary platform where collaboration could thrive.

This diversity of expertise encouraged meaningful exchanges that extended beyond specialties, reinforcing the importance of teamwork in improving transplant outcomes.

07

Extending Learning Beyond the Event

One of the defining features of CAST 2025 was its commitment to continued learning beyond the congress itself.

Participants were provided access to a range of digital resources, including recorded lecture sessions, a dedicated mobile app, and downloadable CME certificates. A photo gallery and virtual 360-degree tour also offered an immersive way to revisit the event experience.

These features ensured that the knowledge shared during the congress remained accessible — extending its impact well beyond the four-day program.

08

A World-Class Setting

Hosted at Grand Hyatt Kuwait, adjacent to 360 Mall, the congress offered a modern and accessible venue for international delegates. With Kuwait’s favorable November climate and well-developed infrastructure, attendees were able to engage in both academic and networking activities in a comfortable setting.

Travel support, visa assistance, and hotel partnerships further contributed to a seamless experience for participants arriving from around the world.
